Democrats believe that cooperation is better than conflict, unity is better than division, empowerment is better than resentment, and bridges are better than walls.
A JOINT PUBLIC STATEMENT OF THE DEMOCRATIC AND REPUBLICAN PARTIES IN SHENANDOAH COUNTY
June 30, 2020
LET IT BE KNOWN TO ALL… that harming the property of others, especially anything with political messages or names, is condemned in the strongest way by the leaders of both major political parties in Shenandoah County.
We encourage all residents of Shenandoah County to give their utmost respect to each other and to respect regulations pertaining to political signs that have been promulgated by our towns, the County, and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). Be advised that under the Virginia criminal code, theft of a political sign is considered petit (aka petty) larceny and is categorized as a Class 1 misdemeanor, punishable by up to 12 months in jail and a $2,500 fine.
We also ask that all political signs contain decent language and be placed with the safety of children and pets in mind, and that to the extent possible, all signage should be placed so as to not diminish the natural beauty of our County.
